Kite Activities

Glenn Davison is a kite designer, builder, lecturer and workshop leader. He is the Chairman of the Education Committee for the American Kitefliers Association.  He is a Director of the Kites Over New England kite club and has been featured on HGTV, the Boston Globe, Kiting Magazine and many other publications.

Glenn has been a featured flyer at the Antigua Kite Festival, Bogota Colombia Festival de Verano, Dieppe International Kite Festival, Verdun International Kite Festival, Wildwood International Kite Festival, St. Placide Winter Festival in Canada, Kites on Ice Winter Festival in Wisconsin, Taipei International Kite Festival in Taiwan and the International Kite Festival in Gujarat India.

Glenn is also a Rokkaku Kite Battle Champion having taken first place in the AKA Nationals, Wildwood, New England, Black Ships, Soundwinds, and Smithsonian Festivals. In Indian Fighter Kites, Glenn took first place in Fighter Kite Precision at the National Convention.

Glenn has traveled worldwide to festivals and events where he has directed hundreds of kite workshops. Glenn has been a curator for many kite art galleries and has displayed his work at the Air & Space Museum in Washington DC. At the AKA National Convention he displayed the largest gallery of miniature kites ever assembled. Glenn's "Bee Mine" kite took first place in the Great Miniature Kite Contest held by the Drachen Foundation for the category called "best in flight." Glenn's 0.75 inch kite won "smallest kite" at the 2002 AKA Convention. Glenn is the author of the books "Kites in the Classroom," "How to Fly a Kite," "Guide to Building Miniature Kites" and "Twenty Miniature Kite Plans."

  • Bristol Chrysanthemum Festival. I was the feature. We built 85 kites with kids and I had 3 people working with me. The kids seemed to love the kites and many kids flew them in a field at the same time. I gave a kite flying demonstration with Peter McMasters. We gave prizes to the kids that flew kites
